v6.x to v7.1 upgrade SPAM

It is very nice that there is an upgrade process from v6.x to v7.1 but does it have to include version 6 SPAM?
What I am referring to is the proliferation of “V6 Upgrade” entries throughout the ASG settings after doing an upgrade. For the most part I can get rid of the majority of these entries as they are in the comment field of the setting but, in some cases, as with “Definitions > Networks”, the interface entries also have this SPAM.

For example, my DMZ interface has:
 -    DMZ (Address) – DMZ address (V6 Upgrade)
 -    DMZ (Broadcast) – DMZ Broadcast (V6 Upgrade)
 -    DMZ (Network) – DMZ Network (V6 Upgrade)

Unfortunately I have no idea of how I can modify these entries to remove this V6 Upgrade text. 
Yes, I know that this is merely cosmetic, but it’s not “clean” and for an A-type personality like myself this is driving me nuts.
I have read in numerous posts that it is no longer possible to modify the backup file manually in v7.x. If I was able to do this the job would be simple but alas, this does not seem to be possible.

Is there any way I can remove this SPAM?
(Other than the obvious of doing a clean install and manually reconfiguring the system)

    Where is the relvant mysql database located?
    Would it be possible to modify the table data manually? If so, how?

    Possible, probably... a good idea, no.

    If you're feeling extremely brave, just run 'mysql' on the command line.

    My knowledge of MySQL is even less than my Linux knowledge; and I know next to nothing about Linux!

    A couple of questions:

    What is the name of the database file that would contain the network definitions?
    Can you edit a MySQL table/database in the shell on the command line? If so, how?

    I don't know, I haven't dug into it.

    Yes, you just issue standard SQL statements like with any database.

    The MySQL GUI client would be better, but you'd have to open an SSH tunnel into the firewall, tunneling the MySQL connection from your PC into the firewall so it looks like it's a local connection.

    None of if this is trivial, esp. if you're new to it all.
    If you have support, you'd be better off asking them how to change those names, otherwise you risk voiding support.

    Thanks very much for your ongoing suggestions and help Barry. It is appreciated.
    I am very likely to stuff everything up if I try to manipulate the MySQL data, given my current skill sets in this area, so I guess that I will leave it well enough alone.

    Ultimately I will build a second ASG box and do a side by side configuration of the new box; do a backup, rebuild my main ASG hardware and apply the new backup to it.
    All in all I think that this would be the safest option.  [:)]

    Would be nice to be able to do a "clean" upgrade from v6 to v7 however or, a the very least, have a way to clean it up easily after doing the upgrade.
    Maybe I want too much . . .

    You might try the VMWare appliance to do the new config... I believe you can run it with VMWare Player (free).
    Then you wouldn't have to setup more hardware.

    Thats what I am trying to do, I've bought a new itx box to replace the old one that won't run anything except v5.

    So I backed up v5, setup a VMware version of astaro v6, restored the v5 backup to v6 VMWare version then backed up v6

    Now built v7.2 box and tried restoring v6 backup to it but the entire thing just died with no web interface listening on the box. Not sure whats going on, going to start again. [:(]

    Ok up and running now, ended up ditching the vmware middleman and just installing 6 on the new box and restoring my v5 backup, then making sure everything worked and backing up v6 (with the webadmin on 4444).

    Then installed 7.2 and restored the v6 backup

    A few tweaks here and there and I'm back up again. Just as well as the v5 box was on its last legs.
