v6 install problems - can't get ping response

I'm pretty new at this, but I just installed ASG V6.3 on a Compaq Deskpro, however I can't seem to get access to it via a Web browser from another computer on the LAN. (I chose V6 as it did the Deskpro did not have 512+ RAM and V7 would not install without erroring out.)  I installed V6 successfully, rebooted, and waited for all the checks to go through before I tried to login to WebAdmin from my laptop which was connected via ethernet to the Deskpro and the Deskpro was connected directly to the cable modem.  I used the default IP (192.168.2.100), however when I try to access it via Web browser on the connected laptop, it fails.  I also try to ping it and it does not get a response.  Any suggestions on how to make this work?

    The ASG v6.3 installed correctly, but I am still not getting any success logging in from the admin computer.  Please correct me in my hardware setup:

    - Built-in Ethernet: Ethernet from Cable Modem
    - PCI NIC: Ethernet to router/switch/Admin Computer

    I sent the admin access to the PCI NIC in the setup and kept the Admin IP 192.168.2.100.  

    Now whenever I try to access the IP when my laptop is connected to the PCI NIC, I get no response.  I see from the back of the card that the light is indicating a live connection, but still no activity.  I'm running it on a Compaq Deskpro 733 Mhz with 320 Mhz RAM an a Netgear 10/100/1000 PCI NIC.
    Any suggestions?
