How is the up2date from 7.011 to 7.1 going for you?

I've up2dated a few live units from 7.011 to 7.100; noted that on one 320, it took an extra 5 minutes or so after the 3 beeps that normally signify the unit is up and running for the webadmin to come online.  This was only a problem after the first reboot following the up2date installation.  THe other units didn't have this problem, but the key was that I didn't panic, and the 320 came up fine.  I upgraded one that was configured to use AD SSO for the HTTP proxy, and followed the recommendations in the release notes closely, and still the SSO part will not work properly.  It joined the AD domain fine, etc. just keeps reporting access denied.  I've started a case with Astaro on that one... so if you use AD SSO, that might be something to be cautious of ... I just switched the proxy back to standard mode in the meantime.

Performance is good, so far I like it.

Thanks, I have a 220 so I bet it will take even longer.  I will probably start the process at about 5am and hope it is up by 7am...

Thanks for the heads up on the SSO.  Did you remove the previous astaro from the domain before upgrading?

I just did two 220 (Rev2) with 7.011 running in a HA setup.
They didn’t have that much configuration since they were recently installed. 5 legs/ports used, including HA.
All went well. One click and then I was just a happy observer.
Node 2 (slave) updated first. Then they switched. Then Node 1 updated.
Very smooth.

I will probably do another 220 (Rev1) later this day. This one has a larger configuration though, including a handful of VPN-tunnels.

How was the second update going ? I'm very curious as I also have a HA, in my case a 120, to update.

I clicked on "Update to latest version" and guest what ... nothing happened!!

Now what?

The update from 7.011 to 7.100 was straightforward and without a flaw.
It took less than 5 minutes on an ordinary P4 processor and internet connection was only lost during the reboot (2 mins).

I'm still a happy user (and so is my family [:)] )

Updated a 220 from 7.011 to 7.1 last night.  I don't think it even took 5 minutes.    No issues so far.  The interface is faster.

Just did a 525 about the same - very quick, reboot, webadmin is much faster, testing web content filtering on this box (mostly).

The other 220 (Rev1) isn't in a HA setup. And I haven't done it yet. This week got too busy.

here our Experiences.

1. ASG120 from 7.011 to 7.100 > disaster no services/network come up after reboot > fresh install from image with help from support

2. ASG software 50 IP's in HA from 7.011 to 7.100 > first updated slave node all ok. other node has status up2date for over 24h no status change - must be reinstalled an then rejoin in ha


Our other ASG's will be updated when all the problems are resolved from astaro. A frozen system per week is better then these ugly update.

I tried to upgrade from 7.011 to v7.1 last night, but no joy.  Like Pummel, no services/network came up after the reboot.  I was able to log onto the box, and could ping eth0, but no other workstation on the internal LAN.  While on my workstation, I could not ping eth0.

I rolled back to 7.011 successfully.  Am now in the process of downloading the complete 7.1 image.  Will report back later today.

Upgraded this morning and it went flawlessly. I was a little surprised at how quick it took to do. 

The new interface is about twice as fast. And it's great to see we can bypass virus scanning on streaming media now - that was one of the main reasons I wanted to upgrade.

just a quick sidenote, for all of you that use the ASG in HA/Cluster mode, the Up2date to 7.100 introduces new virtual mac addresses, therefore the existing network enviroment (switches, router, server, clients, dns server, etc.) might have problems with it. 

They will resolve itself once the ARP timeout on these devices are reached. 
An alternative is power cycling those devices like the switch. 

Normally the ASG will send our gratuitous ARP packets to update all systems but not all react on it. 

Maybe that's the issue on the devices which did not come up properly.

Sorry Gert...I'm afraid that can't explain my pickle.  From a v7.101 baseline I installed the new firmware (see above) and my firewall (a non-HA setup) immediately stopped working.  So, just to make sure something wasn't corrupted, I downloaded a fresh iso (asg-7.100-071203-2.iso) and started from scratch.  Unfortunately, I got the same results (i.e., you can't bring up the WebAdmin tool to finish the configuration, so nothing can transit the firewall).

The main difference I can see is that just after Astaro is loaded and the firewall rebooted (but before it's configured via the WebAdmin tool), you can log on as root under v7.011 and ping both eth0 and a workstation on the internal network.  Under v7.100 you can ping eth0, but receive an "unreachable network" error (if memory serves me correctly) when trying to ping a workstation.

Be happy to run some tests, but at this point I've hit a roadblock.

P.S.  My firewall is a home built PC with two Intel based NICs, not an Astaro appliance.
