1 Update(s) available for download - But where is it?

The 7.100 came out on the up2date servers today.  As long as you have automatic downloads selected the system will download in the background.  Once completely downloaded, availalble for download will change to 1 unapplied up2date.

Hi there,

as there are now 15000 ASG V7 installations that want to pull the 150MB up2date that is 2.25 TB of data that needs to be delivered from our seven up2date servers.

Therefor the download can take a few hours, on some locations it might even take 1 1/2 days.

If you want it faster, you can try download it from the download and ftp servers. 
Please do only use the manual up2date upload if you have more than 512MB of RAM in the box.

If you could integrate a BitTorrent client into each firewall, I suspect that would alleviate a lot of bandwidth issues for large updates.

If you just make participation optional (default to off), provide an upload bandwidth limit (for peak bandwidth & total upload per update, typical features of any BitTorrent client) it could make a notable difference in the days right after a large update. It wouldn't take many nodes to offset a significant amount of bandwidth.

Another option is to use deltarpms, the Fedora project is planning on using these for Fedora 9.

I would configure all of our firewalls to help share the Astaro love. [;)]
