Blank Screen - Pulling My Hair OUT!!!

Hi There,

I am currently running the trial version of the software (OR TRYING TOO) I have searched the astaro forums and found several tips relating to my issue and I have tried them all WITHOUT sucess.

I have an Acer T180-GB7Z which has 1GB RAM, 80GB IDE HDD SET LBA, Nvidia Motherboard, Athlon 4000+ Dual Core CPU.

Everytime I install, it goes through fine but when it reboots I just get a blank screen. If I press ESC And goto the menu then I get an error 15 : File not found.

I have tried Smoothwall, MonoWall, IPCOP, ClarkConnect and all work fine on the same system. However your system seems to be far better (IF ONLY I COULD GET IT TO WORK!!!)

Please could you assist me with this as I need to show it to my boss in order to hopefully sell this solution.

    Update 

    Got it to boot.  Problems

    1) Really slow booting
    2) Cant ping IP address from another computer
    3) Doesnt seem to repsond to service --status-all just prompt and sits there (logged in as root)

    Any ideas ?

    I dont know much about linux but I decided to try and troubleshoot a bit further.  I ran TOP and it showed 99% use for events/0.  I looked this up in google and found that it is due to a number of reasons... one of them being a faulty nic or bad driver.  I disabled the Onboard NIC (Nvidia) and it is working now at 0.82% [[:)]]

    I can even log into the web interface [[:)]]

    Good job of sticking with it. Though it was a tough match, man is once again the victor vs. the machine.

    All you need is the appropriate number of ports worth of Intel NICs and you will be good to go. I've got two Intel GigE ports and one Broadcom GigE port on my Dell box and they all work quite well with Astaro. 

    In general, the forum responses have been quite positive on the Intel NICs -- i.e. good Linux drivers.

    If you had taken a look at the HCL  (see http://up2date.astaro.com) you'd see that nvidia is just plain unsupported on the ASL software platform... glad you figured it out though!  In the future when choosing hardware, check that HCL -- it'll save you a lot of time trying to make incompatible hardware work.

    Hi there,

    The nic that is running is the Realtek 8139.  The Nvidia chip I was referring too is the onboard NIC.  I had disabled it in the bios yet for some reason the ASG install had picked it up and installed the driver (EliteGroup) which is not the right driver anyway [;)]

    However, rebooting and checking the bios it was still disabled.  And worked.
