VDSL: PPOERETRY 5 Seconds, Too low!

In ASG 6.x the ppoeretry was 15 mins...now is 5 seconds? Too low!

We just got Friday our 20 Mbit VDSL from Swisscom. It Took the first time about 30 minutes before the ADSL was up and running with astaro. Luckily, i wasn't waiting for the line to come up...i connected everything and came back after 1 hr. Luckily because otherwise i wouldn't know what the problem could be.

Honestly, a PPOEretry of 5 seconds might even be too low for ADSL too. In the past, with values below 10 seconds we always had troubles.

I've set now 15 seconds and the VDSL comes up at the first try.

For the ones of you with the same issue, modify the following file:

/var/chroot-pppoe/bin/DSL.sh

modifying:

PPPOERETRY=$3

into

PPPOERETRY=15

    I had the same problem. But you don't have to apply manual changes on ASG scripts as DSL.sh...since ASG 7.*** (i don't know exactly) is this feature for PPPoE available directly from Webadmin when configuring your PPPoE Interface. You can choose between 5s (too fast) 60s (fits perfectly in most VDSL Installations in Switzerland) and 15min (if you really need...).
