7.010 HTTP proxy error

I see from further reading that I can't just revert to the previous version (7.009), as I hoped I could. It was working fine.

I have restarted the unit with no luck. As it's a weekend (of course, Murphy's Law), no one is around to help.

I am trying to fix this by opening time on Monday morning, as the bulk of my users will be back to work.

the error alternates between "error (in module profile assignment)" and "error (in module 0)"

Well, I might have fixed it. Still testing to check everything.

All I did was hard power-cycle the 220 and the DSL modem attached to it. I used the WebAdmin option to shutdown the system, then cycled the power switch. The 220 came back up, but everything seemed slower. Pages loading slowly, mail timeouts, that sort of thing. So, I power-cycled the DSL modem, and it seems ok now.

Well, at least I'm posting this through it now. :-)

Still interested if anyone can add any insight to this glitch. I "soft-cycled" the 220 box twice using the Restart option in WebAdmin. Obviously, this is not the same as a hard power cycle.

You may have had some wierd hardware issue there; normally a reset via the console is the same as powering off a unit and back on -- unless it didn't actually reset -- did you check the uptime via the shell after the first reset?  it would tell you whether it really restarted.  The fact that things started moving after you reset your DSL modem is also a little puzzling... are both units on a UPS? Maybe you had a little power anomaly?

The DSL modem slowdown thing happens from time-to-time. Everything works, just slowly, a reset of the modem solves it every time.

The ASG restarting thing is more of an issue in my mind. The timer did not reset after the soft restarts.

So, either the soft restart function doesn't actually restart everything or there was some glitch that kept it from doing a proper soft restart.

Of course, I didn't expect to have to reboot at all for this update, as the changelog says there would be no reboot needed.

Maybe I will just make it a habit to do a hard power cycle after any successful update?

it's a safe rule of thumb to reboot after an up2date.  i've had too many isues with astaro firewalls from v4 onwards that i always restart after an up2date that does not restart the box on it's own.

Same here, I always reboot after an up2date.  Been bitten too many times.
Hint: Ensure up2date COMPLETELY installed and system stabilised before rebooting.

Normally I do a power off and then a power on after an up2date. This time I haven't and the system is still running smoothly. This was an experiment.

I went through a cycle where auisys was causing 100% cpu, internet access and scanning still worked, I just lost most log keeping and I couldn't logon. After the last occurrence I powered everything off ASG and ADSL modem, now as I said all is going okay as far as stability goes..

Somewhere the ASG and the ADSL modem were not talking the same language.

This is absurd. ASGs are supposed to enterprise class firewalls - why should you have to reboot?

Your right ... but Windows Servers and Service packs ... Novell Servers and Service packs et al ... guess SuSe Linux kernel ... I have noticed a som ASG configs read from FILES so that unless a daemon restarts the content is NOT red in (ie renaming a VPN remote IP gateway - doesnt read in the changes) also in SMTP profiles .... so YUP I reboot, which is tricky if you have SLA in place, usually means a late night ... again !
