connecting via an ADSL modem

Hi,

Can anyone advise on the following problems;

I have an ISP connection with Demon in the Uk.
A Dlink adsl modem in bridge mode
An ASG120 connected to the modem.

As I understand it the interface setting on eth1 needs to be PPPoE to establish the connection. So that the modem doesn't do any port translation and the public address from my ISP is external port 1 of my ASG box.

There is nowhere to enter an static IP address for this connection type.

I can't assign any address to the NIC when set to connect via PPPoE or PPPoA.

The eth1 interface is down and with an IP of 0.0.0.0

Thanks
Joe

  • For all of the Static IP DSL systems I've setup, the IP that is provided via PPOE by the ISP is static; they just reassign you the same one every time.  There's not a way to add a static IP to the PPOE interface on the Astaro, at least not that I'm aware of.  Contact your ISP, perhaps they can change their IP assignment methodology to work with your setup.
