PPPoE with T-Com Speedport W 701V

Well, here in the States, most DSL Modems / Routers as provided by the Telcos can be placed in Bridged mode... and then the ASG can do a PPOE login, act as the NAT router, etc.   Do a google search for that model, see what turns up as far as documentation.  If you were on a US telco, I'd say go to DSLReports.com and search for your model there -- they document how to bridge most of the DSL modems used here, I'm sure there's a similar process that can be followed with your DSL modem.

Check with your ISP, maybe they will tell you how to put it in bridged mode, if looking up the docs for the modem yourself isn't producing any results...

I have the same configuration. In the Astaro-machine two nics, one to lan-switch, one to the DSL-Modem. The interface to the modem I have in the ASG configured as PPPoE, there I had to. When the ASG goes up, the internetconnection will automaticly login.
VPN is working fine to my company.
It's helpfull for you to download the manual and read it. 
Interesting: The speedport has a not changable IP-Adress 192.168.2.254 .

well, I got that manual as hardcopy and yes, this is my setup but nevertheless it's still not working if I try using the speedport as modem. Never mind, I will use it as router and keep troubleshooting the VPN issues I have, maybe it's not the speedport after all.

One more idea for you, if you decide to try using your DSL Modem in bridged mode again, with the Astaro as the PPOE dial-up router; make sure the MTU on the interface that will be connected to the DSL modem is set to 1492 (not 1500, which is the default for ethernet interfaces).  IF that doesn't work, try setting the MTU higher and lower, might help.
