V7 Update on ASG appliance hangs

I followed the instructions on the up2date page of the webadmin interface to update our applicance from version 6.311 to version 7.***. During the update process the ftp download of the image hangs (for over 4 days now). There is no possibility to break/stop/relaunch the download with the webadmin interface, according to the iformations displayed on the pages for the update. How can I  start the download again?
Any hints,tipps or tricks are welcome.

    restart the appliance and start downloading again

    make sure you have enough free memory to allow for disabling the swap area (e.g., disable IPS, HTTP and SMTP proxy, then restart)
    and make sure you have documented your V6 configuration to the last detail
