I had problems with one of the NIC (on-board) in MyAstaro box. Astaro SG V7 lspci told me this:
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Unknown device 8168 (rev 01)
My motherboard is Intel BLKD945GCNL: http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/d945gcnl/configs.htm
Intel website tell us that LAN Controller is Gigabit (10/100/1000 Mbits/sec) LAN subsystem using the RealTek RTL8111B-GR*.
I read Astaro SG V7 HCL: http://www.astaro.com/lists/HCL-ASG-V7.txt . I see only RTL-8169 in it from the Realtek Ethernet Gigabit NICs.
BTW, I tested the NIC with two LiveCDs, with different Linux distributions and everything was O.K. with the network card (using r8169 linux driver as module).
I decided to manually load r8169 module with modprobe. The module was loaded successfully but nothing happen after that (udev didn't create for me the eth1 device). Maybe I am using the wrong driver?!
I want to try the drivers from Realtek website (r8168-8.003.00.tar.bz2) but Astaro doesn't have "make" (gcc and so on) and I can't compile the module(driver).
The NIC card is enabled in BIOS by the way!
I have two short questions:
1. Is this NIC supported by Astaro SG V7?;
2. Is there a way to make this NIC to work on Astaro SG V7?
PS: The same Astaro box has got one more NIC on the PCI slot - VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6102 [Rhine-II] (rev 43). It's working with via_rhine driver.
SINCERELY yours,
