I am following these instructions for getting the Astaro Security Gateway to work with VMWare player:
"Using VMware Player
1. Open the image in your VMware product and boot it. If you are using
ESX, please follow the instructions below.
ACC has a network interface card pre-configured as eth0, whose IP
address is 192.168.150.6 by default.
2. System boot was successful when the command-line login screen
appears.
3. Configure your Vmnet8 network adapter with an IP address of the
subnet 192.168.150.0/24.
Note: Do not use the IP address 192.168.150.6, as this address is
already assigned to ACC.
In Windows, this can be done in the Network Connections menu. To open
Network Connections, click Start, click Control Panel, and then
double-click Network Connections. Select VMware Network Adapter VMnet8
and change its IP address to an address of the same subnet, for
example 192.168.150.2.
4. Then point your browser to , accept the SSL
certificate, and you are ready to go. From here on configuring Astaro
Command Center Virtual Appliance is like working with any Astaro
Command Center.
5. To log in to Astaro Command Center for the very first time, use the
default account credentials and click Login.
Username: admin
Password: admin
The Initial Setup screen appears where you can change the
administrator password. Specify a password for the administrator of
Astaro Command Center. Within ACC, the administrator is referred to as
"admin". Note that passwords must adhere to the following security
requirements:
* They must consist of at least eight characters
* They must contain at least one lowercase letter
* They must contain at least one uppercase letter
* They must contain at least one numeral
* They must contain at least one special character
(which must be within the range of 32 to 126 of the ASCII
character table)
This page also contains the end user license agreement. Read the
license carefully and select Accept if you agree to the terms of use.
Click Apply to save your settings. You will then be directed to the
login screen again. To log in to Astaro Command Center, enter username
"admin" and the new password you have just specified."
I get down to step 4 and try to go to https://192.168.150.6 via FireFox and IE, both of them timeout when they are on a XP Pro LAN with a router using 192.168.1.x and subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.
Any ideas what the problem is?
