Anybody using a HP DL320 G4 for Astaro? Are the fans quite on their own or is it still like an aeroplane without the HP agents?
The Proliant server fans will run at full speed, which is quite noisy, unless the Proliant agent software is loaded. Then the fan speed is throttled back, making the machine much quieter.
Regrettably, there is no way at the moment to install Proliant agent software on a machine running the Astaro firewall software. Perhaps the Astaro folks could get together with the HP/Compaq folks and develop a solution to this issue.

I think it depends on which Proliant it is... our DL360 (G4 or G5?), DL365 (G4 or G5?), and DL385's (G1 & G2) drop the fans to low speed right after POST, before the OS loads. I don't remember what our DL145 does.
