v6 to v7 Migration Question

I have v6.303 and trying to migrate to 7.006.  I installed 7 okay and then went to the tab to restore from a v6 backup file.  I kept getting backfile, about 4 times I tried.  Eventually I went back and then continued on with the wizard to configure 7.  After the wizard v7 was working okay, just did not have any of my old network definitions and none of my packet filter rules.  I went back to the restore from v6 page and it would then let me upload the v6backup file. I went to the backup/restore tab ad there were about 5 restore options, all were the v6 restore, assuming those were from the 4 failed attempts and the 5th one that uploaded after the basic config was completed, I chose the newest one based on time, then clicked restore.  Afterwards I could not load the administrator page and Astaro was dead.  I put the drive back in that had 6.303 installed to get it back up and running.

I was wondering if anyone else has gone from 6.303 to 7.006 that has more than custom network definitions and custom packet filter rules and what thier experience was?

Or if there exists any step-by-step migration procedures documented anywhere?

    You should update to 6.311 before going to v7... there were some fixes to the Updateprocess... up2date.astaro.com

    Okay, just upgraded to 6.311, then took a backup, installed to 7.006, then did a restore from the v6 backup and I lost the admin interface again!

    Also, after I import my backup I took from v6.311, it shows up in the backup/restore section as version 7.003 converter?  What the heck does that mean, it was converted to 7.003?  If so, how is that going to work, I have version 7.006 and the oldest version to download looks like 7.005.

    This is very frustrating, I may just stick with version 6.

    The 7.003 notation is not a problem.  That's the version of v.7 that the file converter updates your v.6 backup file to.  Once it's there, everything else will be fine.

    After you've updated to v.7 AND run the backup conversion (which you've already done), then you still need to "restore" the converted backup file.  After you've done that, you'll have your original v.6 settings back - excluding the items that don't convert.
