I'm trying ASG v7 in a virtual machine. Okay, it's supposed to run there for longer.
Anyway, to describe the architecture:
The physical system, running on Windows 2003 Server with VM Server installed, has got two physical network adapters. The virtual machine (running ASG) also has two network adapters, each bridged to one of the physical cards.
One of the physical cards is connected to the lan, the other one to a dsl modem.
Right now the physical system is responsible for the internet connection, but I want to replace the firewall with ASG.
I'm trying to dial a ppoe connection with the same settings as in the physical system. But it's not working. Here's what the ppoe-log says (see attached file). The firewall service on the physical machine is of course completely shut down in order to avoid any influences.
For the physical adapter connected to the dsl modem is a pppoe driver installed (as a protocol). But that shouldn't be the reason. I installed a WinXP System in a equal virtual hardware config and out of that I could dial a ppoe-connection.
Does anyone have proposals? To be honest I don't quite understand what that logfile is mocking about :-)
When I set eth1 from ppoe to static ip I can ping the physical systems network adapter (which eth1 is bridged to). It just can't dial the pppoe connection for some reason.
