[6.310] ASG V7 Firmware download stops

Hi,

I tried to upgrade the firmware of our ASG220 v.6.310
Step 2 of the wizard is downloading an ISO.
Tried several times but it will halt, telling me it will last for another 300+ hours.

I can download it manually from: (KB article)

  • My suggestion would be to skip the 6.310>V7 up2date method.  I'd say definately download the SAI image manually and go through the upgrade process using an external USB CD-Rom drive as per the KB article. There are some issues currently with the config upgrade, so you'll want to manually reconfigure your 220 after the upgrade is complete instead of importing your V6 config backup. As I recall, it took about 30-40 minutes on my 220, not counting reconfig time.

  • Yeah, I wouldn't bother with the upgrade "button" either; also I'd hold off on going to Version 7 if you are planning to import a Version 6 configuration until the next up2date; there were some wierd problems on some installations (make that all the test ones I've got) when trying to convert that backup file.  I understand that these problems will be fixed in the soon-to-be-coming next up2date.  Version 7.005 is a stable enough release for a clean install; but I'm not going to be doing config file upgrades until 7.006.

I would wait for that, and use the "sai" image provided by your reseller with an USB CD-ROM drive to reload the system when it's time.  One little note; the last 2 ASG 220s I've tried to load this way would not boot of the sai image; I found, by connecting a USB keyboard to the unit, that the BIOS on the system was not set to boot from the CD-ROM drive before the hard-drive---just a heads up.
