Cable modem machine name not working

Hi,

I just installed Astaro V7 and used V5 before.

I have to send a specific machine name with my DHCP request to my cable modem. 

In V5 this was done in the file /var/mdw/scripts/dhcp_eth

on the line: chroot $CHROOT /usr/sbin/dhcpcd -d -h name -c "/usr/sbin/$ITF" -R $ITF &

the -h is added (red) with the machine name i need to send with the dhcp request

i thought this would work on V7 also, since the file is on the same location.
but my WAN is still down and wont come up, even after a restart it still keeps being down and wont get an address from my modem.

The WAN card is selected as "Cable modem (DHCP)"

anyone know how to get this working?

    Most, if not all cable-internet providers have some kind of facility to register a device by MAC address.  With some you have to call customer support to have them add it manually.  Others have a little web server with a special address built into the modem which runs some scripts to get this info.  
     
    Best bet is to call your cable provider.

    Ill place my working networkcard (the one i use on astaro V5) into the new machine and reinstall V7, since that would be the MAC address that is registered.... if that wont work ill call the provider to reset it... tnx for the info [:)]

    On Time Warner Cable (Road Runner), at least in my area, no call to the company support line is necessary.  Access is locked down to MAC address, but only the first MAC the cable modem sees after power on--it will work with a new NIC / MAC address: all one has to do here is to power cycle the cable modem after the NIC has been changed that connects to the cable modem.
