Beginners questions

I heard about ASG on "Security Now" and have installed it on a 800 Mhz Pentium III computer. According to the manual there is on the Astaro knowledgebase instructions how you use ASG with an ordinary DSL connection, but I cannot find it. Maybe somebody here have a link?

The install went just fine. I also can reach to web admin from my pc. But I don't know how to connect the system to my dsl modem so I can surf the web and use my mail.
 Is this the correct setup?

I connect the dsl modem to the first network card on the ASG, the card that my admin pc uses.
I connect the other network card to the hub.
I the connect my pc to the hub, too.

I use PPOE to connect to my ISP.
I enable DHCP so my pc get an IP adress (or should I use static adresses instead? Last time I enabled dhcp, my admin pc lost contact with ASG and i had to reinstall the software)

After that, i'm somewhat lost.

    192.168.2.0/24 is your local network, if you accepted the defaults during setup.

    I did have exactly the same error codes during installation of ASG 7.
    It turns out that my darddrive was detected as a /dev/hdb in stead of /dev/hda !.
    The cause of this problem was that my harddisk was configured as a secondary drive on the primary IDE interface. (This information can be seen in the BIOS setup). Modern IDE controllers are capable of working with only a slave drive, but linux is detecting the difference. After reconfiguration the harddrive to a master, the installation works fine.

    One more comment to the harddrive problem.
    Yesterday I tried to installed ASG7 on a spare PC, and did see exactly the same error codes as posted by Razzel:

     Error: cant have a partition outside the disk!
    umount: /dest//sys: No such file or directory
    umount: /dest//proc: No such file or directory
    umount: /dest//boot: No such file or directory
    umount: /dest//opt/inst: No such file or directory
    umount: /dest//var/storage: No such file or directory
    umount: /dest//var/log: No such file or directory
    umount: /dest//tmp: No such file or directory
    umount: /dest//:invalid argument

    With the console, I figured out that my harddrive was detected as /dev/hdb in stead of /dev/hda.
    The cause of this problem was that the harddrive was configured as a slave drive, even when it was the only drive on the IDE interface. (Modern IDE controllers are forgiving [:)] ). In the bios setup, I found the drive back as a secondary drive on the primary IDE controller.

    After reconfiguration to a proper master drive the installation works great.
    My next steps are to create a working configuration to this firewall, so please be prepared to get some questions forom this newbie.
