You don't really need a RAID disk system on an Astaro box, the way you would on a file server, since the configuration backup contains all relevant details. Should the disk drive fail, a reinstallation of the software on a new drive can be done quickly. Once the current configuration backup is reinstalled, you are back to where you were. The only thing lost would be the old log files.
I disagree that you don't need a RAID disk system on an Astaro box if you are using it for any type of installation where uptime is important.
Hard drive failures are the most likely component to fail in a machine in my experience.
If you don't have RAID on the server, you can always go with a HA setup for the best redundance at the cost of redundant hardware and an extra Astaro license.
All of our critial Astaro boxes either have hardware RAID1 arrays and/or are used in a HA setup depending on how critical internet access is at that location.
