The authorized Astaro reseller you bought it from should be able to downgrade it for you. The process involves booting the Astaro appliance from an external CD-ROM drive connected through USB. Appliances require a special modified image that only resellers have access to. There are quite a few resellers here on the board who could probably provide more detail than I. If you cannot contact your reseller, call Astaro and they can provide you with a list of other resellers in your area.
Update - I was able to find a list of the differences between a standard ASL ISO image and the ones for appliances:
1) Support for LCD display This is needed to show system related informations on the front panel of the ASG. There is no way to write your own LCD drivers from third party LCDs.
2) Activation of a serial console Adds support for serial console. This makes it possible to connect a hyper terminal to ASG by using the serial connection.
3) Optimizations regarding ASG hardware These were developed to ensure the best performance from the specific hardware used for ASG.
4) Predefined settings to ensure initial connectivity: - Internal IP is preset to 192.168.0.1 (eth0). This is to allow initial connection to the webadmin interface - Webadmin access is restricted to the internal network by default(Webadmin >> System >> Webadmin settings >> Allowed Networks) - DHCP enabled by default (IP range: 192.168.0.10-254) - DNS Proxy enabled. Running without forwarder (using ROOT DNS servers). Listening on internal network (eth0)
5) Some very minor changes in the appearance of webadmin.
