Upgradeing a ASG525 to Ver 7

Currently you will need to install 7 and configure by hand. A convert tool is expected in the near future (7.004 maybe even later then that). Version 7 does support generic proxies.

Just remember that the appliances require the appliance version of Astaro to upgrade which is different than the software ISO.

Also, some USB CD-ROM's for some reason are not recognized by the ASG320/425/525 models.

We use a Plextor PX-712A which works fine on ASG120/220's, but does not work on 425's..(haven't tried on 525 yet).

Astaro Support team uses a USB CD-RW/DVD drive manufactured by Mad Dog Multimedia that apparently works with all ASG appliances (unfortunately there was no model # printed on the drive).

You probably will have to contact Astaro Support in order to get the link for the Appliance image as it is not available through ftp.astaro.com

Our Channel rep handed me a USB flash drive that has a CDFS partition on it with a V7 ISO image... apparently it can be used in lieu of a CDROM drive as well--haven't tried it, though.

I use a FREECOM CD/DVD drive (PC World in the UK sell it) have imaged ASG120 thru to 425 OK with Appliance ISO V7.002

How can I do this ?

I do have a spare device. So if I can install ver 7 on the spare, and migrate the conf to ver 7 from ver 6.304 ? Is that do able ?

Does ver 7 support "Generic Proxy's"?

Installation Notes:

- The migration of V6 into V7 configuration files will not convert IPsec VPN and Intrusion Protection configuration.

- All log files and reports of your V6 installation will be deleted during migration (make a backup first)

- V6 license files can also be used within V7

- If you receive a warning of Invalid license on an ASG appliance check the Dashboard view to confirm if you have loaded the correct software.  If you do not see the model: ASG 220 for example then the wrong software has been installed and needs to be reinstalled with the ASG Appliance software image
