ASG V7002 locks me out after installation

Hello NG,

I haver just installed ASG V7 (70020703002) an a brand new mini-ITX system with the following configuration:

Motherboard Jetway J7F2WE1G2E P 1200MHz Mini-ITX
Jetway Adapter 3xGiga Lan (daughterboard)
1GB DDR2 
Travla C137 120W

Everything works flawlessly, the hardware is being detected correctly, the system is starting without any errors and I can log on to console as root.

According to ifconfig, the primary interface is up and setup correctly. Still, there seems to be no way to connect to webadmin.
httpd is running and a telnet on localhost:4444 suggests some running server on this port as well.
Something during installation seems to have gone very wrong.
I am not a linux guru, but it seems that while all interfaces are being set to drop policy, there are no iptables rules installed that would allow webadmin-traffic to reach the ASG.
Yet, even inserting such a rule doesn't seem to make a difference. The packetfilter doesn't log anything at all. Another confusing thing is that there are zero routes defined. None.

The only thing I found while going through the logs was one entry in system.log:
sysmond: Can't read configuration file '/etc/active_interfaces': No such file or directory

I reinstalled twice: Without any difference.

ANY help would be appreciated!

    Can you ping the firewall's primary interface?

    What happens when you try
    httpS://firewall_primary_IP:4444
    from a browser on an attached PC?

    What is the IP of your firewall, and what is the IP of the PC you're connecting from?

    Hi Barry,

    thanks for your reply. In the meantime I figured out that the 3x GB Lan NIC daughter board seems to be the problem. When I configure the onboard NIC as the primary interface, everything works fine.

    Maybe ASG is using a wrong kernel-module:
    lspci lists those NICs as "Realtek 8169 Gigabit Ethernet (rev10)" while the chips are labeled: RTL8110SC
    When I plug a cable into an activated gb-lan NIC, the lights start flashing whenever there is traffic on the line. I know that flashing leds on the NIC don't mean a thing but at least ASG managed to activate the device. ifconfig looks fine as well. It's just that there are no packets coming in on that interface. No matter what.

    There are no packets being dropped as well, it just looks like the interfaces is broken.

    This is kind of bitter as I built this system just from components that I thought were KNOWN to work with ASG, at least other members of this forum already use them.

    Again, ANY hint is highly appreciated!

    Just wanted to let anyone know, that the 3xGB NIC board was defective. It didn't work on XP and 98 as well unsing the original realtek drivers. The board always had the same issues: 100% Rx / Tx dropped (mostly Rx drops)
