MAC with OSX can't get to internet

In my home, I just setup Astaro v7 and all the PCs can get to the internet just fine, but my Mac can't.  From the Mac I can successfully ping the astaro computer.  The mac gets a DHCP address from Astaro okay.  On the Mac I opened up Firefox and iTunes, neither work.  Are there some special rules that need to be setup for the MACs?

  • Can you give more info on your setup??

I got my macbookpro working with ASG 7.002 without any problems ( using the web proxy [Transparent Mode])

    regards,
  • Try disabling your P2P filtering on the Astaro (if it's enabled)... we've seen some wierdness with different platform / browser / web sites and false positives (most notably Edonkey and WinMX rules).  It's a shot in the dark, but it might work.

  • No, there are no special settings. I carry a Macbook Pro, and I don't have issues.
  • The mac works now.  I disabled P2P and it worked.  To make sure this was it, I re-enabled P2P and the MAC still works.  I get mail, Firefox and iTunes. The P2P settings are the default set during installation:

    Bittorrent: Do Not Block
    Everything Else: Block

  • Just a warning: eventually you will try to browse to a site an will find it won't load... a check of the IPS logs will reveal the traffic is being blocked by Edonkey and WinMX IPS rules... I would disable those in P2P, as it has been a problem on all the V7 test installs I've done.  These are false positives, but Astaro hasn't gotten the rules tuned up just right yet.
