ASG 7.002 as vmware on dsl-connection

you want to run asg on vmware-server running on an epia? Isn't that a bit to slow? Which vmware-version are you planning to use?

i want to use the vmware-server 1.01. This is working fine here at my work.
I am running a ubuntu 6.06LTS-server installation.
This takes only 30 to 50 MB RAM. At the moment there are 4 VM-Ware running on a dual Xeon 2.8 MHz with 2 GB Ram.

I think for the astaro after booting and loading the modules, it should be fast enough for my home-network.

The problem would be the dsl-pppoe with vmware. I tried this on asl 6.x. This was NOT working. The dsl-coonection works fine using asl 6.x as installation on the hardware directly.

BTW. The Via is quite slow. I would take some more powerful machine.

I am using a M10000 1GHz with 512 MB RAM.

This will fit.

Dependes on how many VM´s you will run on.
What will the V7 do? Only firewalling or IPS/Proxy etc ?

It is only a Firewall 1 NAT
No ISP
2 VPN's
max. 10 IP's

But overall, i think, installing ASG into a VM will NOT do a pppoe-connection.
