Router -> Astaro -> Network but how ?

Hi,
i am beginning to work with asl 6 and now i want to setup an astaro at my home. But how must i configure the Interfaces so that the router (own dhcpd) give the internet to the astaro but the network behind the astaro should be an another network with another ip and how must i configure the firewall of the router that the astaro is managing all and the router is only a gateway to the www [:S] 
i hope an body can help me when yo have some question about the network then ask.

    When I first tried out Astaro a few years ago, I did what you are trying to do. I placed my Astaro firewall machine in behind my existing router. I got it working, but two weeks later, after realizing that I didn't really need my little 4-port Linksys router any more, I removed it and sold it.

    Anyhow, if your router is defining subnet 192.168.1.0 on its LAN side, then the router address will be 192.168.1.1. Simply set your Astaro WAN interface address to be 192.168.1.2, with 192.168.1.1 as the default gateway. The DHCP server capabilities in your old router are no longer relevant, since there will not be any client PCs on the subnet it defines.

    Running advanced Astaro features such as VPNs, is a real pain if you have another router between the Astaro box and the broadband modem. You can configure for it, but it is much easier to just remove the other router.

    And what is about any Daemons on the Astaro like Samba or something like netatalk

    Don't confuse Astaro with general purpose Linux distributions.

    Astaro Security Linux is a dedicated firewall package with application proxies. It does not include samba or netatalk, since it is not a file server. If you want to run Linux as a file server for Mac and Windows client machines, you will have to do so using a separate Linux box.
