Computer hangs booting kernel

Hi, I just tried to install astaro v6 and v7 today to a computer with intel isleton 946GZ mainboard and P4 3GHz 533Mhz processor with a SATA drive. After starting installation the computer got stuck in "ok booting kernel" process. Can you tell me what is the reason for this and how can I fix this problem?

    Yes I have just tried it without apic and it worked thanks to you [:)] But here is the new problem; after the installation finished, it said reboot your computer with ctrl-alt-del and I did it but after it restarted, the computer said there is no bootable drive. Why is that, I didn't understand?

    Are you using SATA equipment (HD/CD)?

    What kind of Chipset are you using on that board for USB?
    Astaro doesn't like al kind of chipsets......

    Yes I am using HDD 80GB 7200 RPMSEAGATESATA NCQ8M
    INTEL ISLETON 946GZ Express Mainboard
    and INTEL 524 Pentium 4 3.06GHz 533MHz processor

    1.5.3 Serial ATA Interfaces
    The board provides four Serial ATA (SATA) connectors, which support one device per
    connector.
    1.5.3.1 Serial ATA Support
    The ICH7’s Serial ATA controller offers four independent Serial ATA ports with a
    theoretical maximum transfer rate of 3 Gbits/sec per port. One device can be installed
    on each port for a maximum of four Serial ATA devices. A point-to-point interface is
    used for host to device connections, unlike Parallel ATA IDE which supports a
    master/slave configuration and two devices per channel.
    For compatibility, the underlying Serial ATA functionality is transparent to the
    operating system. The Serial ATA controller can operate in both legacy and native
    modes. In legacy mode, standard IDE I/O and IRQ resources are assigned (IRQ 14
    and 15). In Native mode, standard PCI Conventional bus resource steering is used.
    Native mode is the preferred mode for configurations using the Windows* XP and
    Windows 2000 operating systems.

    In the (HCL)=Hardware Compatibility List are they pointing out to the ICH5/6 sata controllers!@#$%, this is very old Hardware. A pitty that they not update new documentation with new hardware....

    I've also been testting with different chipsets, its a hard case to beat sometimes.
    Until now not successfull with this chipset? Not downwards compatible ?

    Normaly the best chance with Intel, is there anyone who can share their findings......

    Ok the problem is with the chipset not with the SATA drive. I took the hdd out and installed it to an Asus Mainboard with a Intel 915PL Express Chipset and it worked!

    So, what we got from here is; DON'T use Intel 946GZ Chipset [:)]

    One thing you could try is make sure your SATA controller is in compatability mode (not enhanced or whatever it is named) in your bios settings and try the installation again. Also while in the bios check your boot order.

    I've noticed that sometimes when using nonempty hard drive with linux installations the bootloader can fail to install properly. Often this can be corrected with mbr rewrite (dos floppy, fdisk /mbr command) or by simply filling the hd with zeroes (dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda(or sda for scsi/sata) before installation.
