Jetway (via) C7 mobo + Jetway Gibabit module

Hi there,

I was thinking about buying the M300 system but I live in the UK so hope the power will work [;)]  Could someone tell me if they got V7.1 working on this system with 3x10/100 card.  Also, what can the LCD display ?

Thanks for the reply.  I hadnt seen it but it is out of stock.  Also wanted a slim-line pc which could sit inplace of my router.

change the case as i think it might be a small motherboard [;)] for this price it's bargin?! [:)]

but indeed tesco doesn't has stock and the uk isn't really a open source nation either... not sure when they will.

i tried to get that $199 green box from walmart from the states since a work college is there but thats was out of stock in boston... so no luck for now.

Anyway, if Astaro ever adds the drivers for the 3 port gig daughter card (which uses the RTL8110SC chipset) then I'll probably add that back in, but until then, I'm happy I got everything working.

Anyone tried the Jetway 3-port GigaBit nics in 7.100 yet?

I'm thinking about getting this system... Newegg seems to have the motherboards but not the NICs... anyone recommend a US vendor?

Anyways, I figure if I'm going to have to build a system from scratch (as I don't have any micro-ATX boards), then I might as well go with the VIA as it uses much less power and is much smaller.
The 12watt 1.5GHz VIA CPU should make a good system that'd save $20-50/year on electricity over the PIII I have now (using 50-60W total).

Only limitation I can see with the VIA is that it is limited to 1GB RAM, and the CPU is not upgradeable (without buying a new motherboard).

So, for those who bought the mimibox 200 or 300, did anyone buy the LCD version and if so, does the LCD panel work (like with an Astaro appliance)?

I've setup LCD4Linux with a CF634 display on Astaro myself in the past (posted about it these forums), but on v7, it just segfaults (statically compiled).
Another user reported the same problem.

Because of that, I'm not going to spend the extra $ to get a case with an LCD for my mini-ITX project.

Are you sure the total power utilization is only 12w? Keep in mind that the PSU and hard drive choice will make a big difference in power draw at the wall of such a low power system.

A notebook drive or one of the WD "green" hard drives is a good choice and an 80plus 300w ATX PSU is going to be as good as you can get unless you go with a PicoPSU + brick.

I have an older Via powered system and it draws about 35-40w from the wall, but could be about 10-15w better with a low power HD and a PicoPSU.
