I have a pentium III machine on which I was runnnig version 4. I decided to upgrade to ver 6 after having some problems. I have now downloaded the latest version 3x and created 4 install CDs but none of them will complete the install process. The process starts, goes so far, then quits. Quitting means the machine either automatically reboots and process starts again, or installation freezes up and I have to manually reboot. Sometimes I get as far as the first blue screens where options are selected, such as language, locations, but then reboot begins. Sometimes I do not even get this far. Usually, when I do not get to the blue screens, the monitor will go black and display "invalid sync" at which point I must manually reboot.
I have tried other installation CDs such as the Windows NT install discs with no problems at all. They install just fine.
I even went back to the version 5 install disc and that is doing the same thing.
I do not have a clue how to solve this. Any else know what is happening?
