Installation challenges - hardware related

Hi there

I am installing on an IBM eServer 326m which has dual AMD core duo processors, and dual Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit ethernet cards- BCM570x.

The first challenge appears at the very first prompt.  I type "smp" and hit enter, and get the error "

So I continue with a standard installation.

It runs through and detects the hardware, detects the jolly processors, but tells me there are no network cards.

I have bios updated everything possible, turned off PXE boot.  Am I missing something?  [:S]

    What error are you getting? It is quite possible that the NICs in your server aren't supported. What driver do your NICs use, and are the NICs listed in the HCL?

    What version are you trying to install?

    Whoops left the SMP error out.

    The SMP Error is "Could not find kernal image:SMP"

    The Broadcom BCM570x is supported according to the doco.

    The version is the Novell Security manager version.

    When the hardware detection is over.

    Do ALT + F2 (with ALT + F1 you return to the installer window), then you should bo on a console input (bash). There you can go to the log directory and view the messages log file for errors

    cd /var/log
    cat messages or cat messages | less (press space for next page)

    you can scroll the window with SHIFT + PAGEUP or PAGEDOWN
