USB networking adapter with V6?

I'm planning on moving my firewall to a mini-itx board in a small embedded case when I make the move from V5 to V6 (since I need to upgrade to an i686 compatible processor anyway).  So I'm limited in space such that I cannot add a PCI card for my 2nd LAN port.

Is it possible in V6 to use a USB 2.0 -> LAN networking adapter (preferably gigabit)?

I'm pretty sure that the latest 2.6.x kernel includes a usbnet driver that allows for the Linksys USB1000 adapter, but I'm not sure if the Astaro V6 kernel has this option compiled in.

Has anyone had any luck using USB networking adapters with V6, if you have had luck, or if you found some that don't work, which adapters?

    I'm wondering if I can recompile the kernel to include this feature?  Do they have any special additions they add to the kernel sources, if not I'm wondering if they give out their configuration options they used ...

    If you modify the kernel, in order to add features, you are on your own. You'll be ineligible for Astaro support, and the Astaro service pack releases will likely break your configuration.

    I would suggest sticking with hardware that is on the ASG compatibility list.
