Hello all, I've just discovered Astaro. Right now I'm a home user and I'm trying it out on my static-IP broadband. So far, I really like it. But due to the HD Wipe during install from the ISO, I had to install it on a VMWare box. I don't have a system to devote to ASL.
Has anyone sucessfully installed into a dedicated partition? I have a linux box that I use, and I have various partitions separately booting through Grub right now. It would be very useful for me to be able to copy the install distribution into one of those partitions, but I noticed that the installer creates about 10 partitions!!
I can't imagine that this isn't possible. Linux is linux, and partition names can just as easily be file descriptors as they can be mounts. But before going through the process of copying each partition to a DVD and trying to mirror the functionality, has anyone else tried this approach? I know its not recommended, buy my VMWare instance seems to perform so poorly. I don't think I can get 5 Mb/sec through it. I know I can do better than that natively.
