I rebuilt my home machine back to v6.302 early yesterday Australian time and it has not stopped scanning in the proxies and thereby causing the machine to go very slow. During this issue no stats or other information was recorded, so there were no details to determine the cause.
In another thread I posted some info from the up2date log showing an issue with the kaspersky virus scanner not having "chroot", this starts after 6.302 is installed.
In an attempt to reduce the exposure points I have further tuned the system by reducing the number of ethernet ports, moving hardware to reduce the number of shared interrupts. Both erthernet cards are E1000s
V6.303 will sit in the up2date queue until another version is released and then both wil be installed.
At this stage the cure in v6.303 looks worse than the bug it tried to fix.
