[ASG v6.x] No NTP server

Hi

I'm trying to use NTP-based time synchronization, but I can't manage to see any NTP server in the "use NTP Server" list !

I've added a one-host network in Networks, as described in the manual ...

For information, my TZ is "Europe - Paris".

I've tried with ASG 6.3 (with and without patches) and 6.2

Any tip ? What am I doing wrong ?

    Hi,

    you have to add a HOST under Network/hosts ...then the host will appear as a choice in the NTP server dropdown list...

    Yep, you will need to add a DNS Hostname (that's how I'd do it) in Network Definitions, then select it.  Google for a list of "NTP Servers" for some entries.  The time zone part doesn't matter, as long as you set it right on the Astaro.. for instance, you could be in China and use a NTP server in the USA, it would work fine.. they use UTC or GMT (can't remember which) and the Astaro automatically adds or subtracts the necessary number of hours for your timezone.

    Just for information, I use ntp0.oleane.net, as Oleane (aka France Telecom) is my ISP, and the most reliable in France.

    I suppose that the best way to have documentation corrected is to post a support case at Astaro.com ? (I have Silver as Free Home user, is it ok ?)

    I use definition : "DNS hostname (multiple records)".

    Then enter a NTP pool hostname, like pool.ntp.org or au.pool.ntp.org for Australia.

    Then use that...

    Sorry, I tried that again to be sure, but it doesn't work ...
    The new host defined this way does simply not appears in the NTP servers list.
    I guess the name doesn't matter ?

    I experienced this first with 6.302, I'm currently using 6.203.
