[6.300] Astaro Anti-Virus engine

Up2Date 6.300

We are also introducing the Astaro Anti-Virus engine for a faster Secure Web and Secure Email.

Is this a self programmed feature or another commercial one ?

Hi Kknecht,

Both, this is a licensed AV SDK which is directly integrated into our Content Filter Framework (CFF).

The new engine and the direct integration into the CFF delivers a massive performance improvements of more than 50% of the AV scanning of Secure Web and Secure Email.

You are right, it really works especially in the Board:
Within 10 minutes a feedback from a CEO is unbeatable!! [:D]

Update worked fine, a lot of fixes stuff, thanks a lot.

And now everybody should slowly start to search for a place in front of TV,
to see the match....

This Error only happens when i use the Update "actions" button behind the Astaro Virus Protection![:$]

The full "Pattern Up2Date" / Update Now / Start Button downloaded the Authentium Patterns[[:D]]

After version 6.202 something has gone in a bad way:
on 6.203 SNORT was ...... but disabling and re-enabling it everything
come-back well ;
on 6.300 when I try to update the AV and the INTRUSION-PROTECTION
on the second screen appear this :

Yes it "Done"..and me too...
I have the Home User license with the AV upgrade and I have
no idea about these two problems.
Can anyone ( ASL TEAM ) Help me ?

i assume that you used the "individual" Update Buttons behind the Patterns... I get the same Errors on the new AV and IPS Patterns.

Use the "Pattern Up2Date" / "Update Now" / "Start" Button instead. That does download new AV Patterns without errors.

The automatic Pattern Up2dates are also working without errors.

Yes ,for the update issue I've done in a way as you describe .......but what about SNORT issue ?
It breaks my mind and another thing with disabling and re-enabling every time the data traffic stop itself.

Hi!

I also never heard before of "Authentium"...

I "googled" a little and don`t found much, where i can see some independently tests, which compare the engine with others.

One i found here, but "the results here are about 6 month old":

Another thing, that i am afraid of, that it seems like that they don`t release
new signatures on weekends...
Take a look at the website - they release everyday, but not on 6/24/2006-6/25/2006 and even not on 7/01/2006-7/02/2006

Does it meen, when there is spreeding some new malware on friday night, i`m possibly not secure till monday?!?

Does anyone here have some experiences with this scanner/engine?

EDIT:

Just saw: "The Scanner is Based on the famed F-Prot Professional virus scanning engine,..."

Has anyone some "official" statement from Astaro?
Why kicked "Kaspersky" and changed to "Authentium"?

The announcements only says:
* Added new Astaro Anti-Virus engine with better performance

But nothing about:
* Removed old Kaspersky Anti-Virus engine with less performance

Very confused and hope for some answers...

I always had a big advantage selling ASG Software, who else updated the AV-Patterns on an hourly basis? I'd rather have a slow up2date engine than a fast outdated one... (assuming the hourly patterns contained new information and were not just marked as new)
