Linksys Wireless behind Astaro

I have a linksys wireless router(WRT54G) that I would like to implement behind the astaro. I would also like for it to take care of DHCP. I currently if plugged straight into the back of the astaro can connect to the internet if I set my ip, dns, and gateway to point to the astaro itself. I would like for my linksys router to connect to the astaro and then handle all the dhcp. I also would like to be able to connect to the astaro from behind the linksys. Does anyone have any tips to do this? Thank you very much.

    It would be much easier if you just put an Accesspoint behind the Astaro instead of an Router. The WRT54G can't act as an bridge so you will always have trouble with such a config.


    So getting a non router type wireless access point and let the astaro do the DHCP'ing would be a better idea? or can I put the astaro behind the router and let the wireless hookups up just use the default linksys router for protection and have my lan use the astaro as protection?

    I am using WRT54g behind astaro, it should be easy as you put static IP for the WAN side of the LinkSYS. Put all the parameters (Gateway and DNS).

    The client should have the DHCP parameters of the LAN side.

    I'm doing the same thing on my home configuration... a WRT54GS behind an Astaro 6.3 firewall.  Simply don't use the WAN port on the WRT.  Connect your WRT to the local network via one of its 4 switch ports, or directly to the Astaro, and you're good to go.  Just set the desired LAN static IP on the WRT.  In this configuration, the WRT is simply an Access Point for the rest of the network and it can still be the DHCP server for the network-- just be sure DHCP is disabled on the Astaro.

    There are a number of different approaches (as already seen).
    I added an extra NIC to my astaro at home and connected the Access Point and only the AP directly to this NIC. I addes a MAC Filter on the AP and VERY restrictive rules for that interface. So, when my WLAN gets hacked, the hacker still isn't inside the LAN, it is like someone would be trying to break in from the internet.
    You could setup ASG as a VPN Gateway and allow VPN traffic over WLAN only, then you would be quite safe.
