problem with serial modem

i've got a serial modem (eicon diva ISDN) with my astaro v6.202 and i've got this message in my log:

    If i didn't miss something on the road, there is no support for any kind of modems !! 
    So don't expect this to work. And even if you would get it work ...
    ... you lose support
    ... next update could wipe it away
    ... you cannot manage it via WebAdmin

    if no modem does function, then why there is an interface ttyS0 for modems in series in astaro?  is there  some modems which already functioned with astaro??? (for ISDN) 

    I am really desperate… I must absolutely install a modem ISDN on my astaro!!

    Let us try a little bit of logic here.

    Most serial interfaces on PC motherboards are async from memory and don't work very well with synch which I believe ISDM modems are.
    You would need to check the compatability equipment list for a synch card which will work with your modem.
    Or maybe the ISDN modem can be configured for asynch, but there is a lot of hand shaking to be configured for flow control etc which as was mentioned above can't be managed by webadmin.

    I have checked the help files and yes, there is a serial interface, but it appears to be an inter firewall communication link only when using the HA configuration.

    Final thought you might need a ethernet to ISDN convertorif such a thing exists as th eonly way to get it connected. I suppose an old PC used as router would do it or a small linux box is probably even better as a protocol convertor. It doesn't need to be a very modern version os linux or a very powerful one.

    Sorry, it's in German, but i'm shure there are also English solutions out there.

    The ethernet part is easy.  Plug the cable in.

    Back to the ISDN interface. You will need a synchronous PCI card, these days should be cheap. After you have installed it, I am not sure what settings you will need other using the far end (telephone exchange) for clocking.

    Within the PC networks page turn on routing and point the serial port at the lan port.

    I know it is a simplistic view, but it is about 10 years since I did any of this or was allowed near one, so my memory of details is a little rusty.

    Just an Idea: Why don't use an external router? I have used for example an DLINK 713P long time. It supports analog modem over serial line. Also there exist a lot of routers for Ethernet  ISDN purposes. May be the simplest way and if you look around at eBay you may get one for cheap price.

    tell me, you've got a isdn router?? i've a 3com isdn router and it's ok with my astaro, i can surf ti internet but i don't create a vpn!! 'cause my public ip is in my router not in my astaro and it's a big problem for me!!!
    Can you tell if you create vpn with your dlink, and if it'a that wright, how you can to do???
