Issues access the webadmin

Hello,

We're trying the software version of Astaro "in the office".  Right now we have it setup between a cable modem and a broadband router.  The rules are setup to allow any/any and webadmin is set to allow access from any network.  Everything behind the cable modem is on 192.168.1.0/24.  Astaro is setup in transparent mode for now.

Traffic is flowing through the Astaro box just fine but we can't access the webadmin.

What are we missing?

    I seem to have a similar problem - just installed the Trial - I can ping the management IP but no luck surfing to it with the browser via HTTPS.

    Just going to run the install now for the 5th time [;)]

    How is it set to Any/Any for management?  During the install process it asks which interface is going to be the "Management Interface" and only that interface can access Webadmin.

    1. Are you accessing it from the correct interface?
    2. Is the firewall sharing an IP with another device on the network?
    3. Is the subnet different?  I can't configure the device from a seperate subnet.

    The port/packet filtering (not 100% sure on the Astaro termonology) is setup for allow any/any. I.e. it just letting everything through for now.

    It's in transparent mode, so it's bridged the 2 nic's.  Not sure how it could be accessed from the wrong interface this way.

    Nope.  All the other devices on the network are DHCP in the 192.168.1.100 -  199 range and this devices was setup with a 200ish ip

    Nope, it's on 192.168.1.0/24 255.255.255.0 just like everything else.

    Okay, the Packet Filter rules have no effect on what interfaces can access Webadmin.  During the install you can specify only one interface which can be used for management, regardless of packet filter rules.  

    If you can't access it with the LAN interface I suggest trying the WAN interface.

    One more question, how did you configure the firewall to be in Transparent Mode and set the appropriate Packet Filter rule if you don't have Webadmin access?  Did you login as root?

    System - Webadmin Settings lets you choose what networks can access webmin.

    The default is "any" and that is still selected.


    One more question, how did you configure the firewall to be in Transparent Mode and set the appropriate Packet Filter rule if you don't have Webadmin access? Did you login as root?


    We originally setup the device just as a "node" on the network (attached to the broadband router).  Once it was configured it was "moved" inbetween the cable modem and the broadband router.

    Well if you could access it before that makes me wonder if the router is not allowing HTTPS requests to the Astaro box?

    Does the router do any filtering or does it simply NAT?
