Ethernet Port Speed Set

You need to enable SSH access to the box. Once you have done that, you login using the "loginuser" account, with the password set during the initial setup. Then you su - to become root, using the password set during the intial setup.

Update:

root# mii-diag -F 10baseT-HD eth7

The mii-diag option works FINE except it is NOT persistent
On reboot the Port speed reverts to 10/100 Auto

I have seen postings on editing the Loader Files in /etc/init.d/initnics

We can open the file in JOE but our knowledge is a bit thin in the kernal !

the Posting by DAG shows how to set the MAC address on boot but anyone know a permanent way to lock (in our case Eth7) to 10Mb HDuplex

try putting a crossover cable in. I have found on other equipment where I had this problem a crossover cable solved it.

Uhhh... why not just lock the Cisco's Ethernet port down?  It's pretty easy, use the speed and duplex commands in IOS.

The background is we are responsible for over 100 (yes 100) ASG (future)installations, we have have lots of grey hair and are very old ... been there done it .. Novell from Version 2.0; DOS before Microsft, started at IBM in 1987  :-))  Have been in the Biz for years, the ASG has been the first "really cool" product for years.. we really appreciate all the help the forum has given us.

We  have been involved with ASTARO since Feb this year, and went to Germany and met the  ASG team, Gert, Jan, Markus and Andreas.

Any way, the latest we have as a FIX ? is to use the ETH tool as follows >>

search in /etc/init.d/initnics for the following section:

/usr/local/bin/setitfhw.pl >/dev/null 2>&1
 
Insert above '/usr/local/bin/setitfhw.pl >/dev/null 2>&1' the following ethtool-command.
ethtool -s ethX speed [10|100|1000] duplex [half|full] autoneg [on|off]
 
Reboot the Firewall... 


BUT  we tried it and it seems not persistent !


We will try the CISCO mod route as it sounds

Precisely, no voided support... I believe confd overwrites those config files at boot, so that's why it doesn't stick. Don't forget to issue a wr command on that router so the config changes stick.
