Hi,
I've encountered a rather bizarre problem with the above firewall since upgrading from v6.104 to v6.105 in that I cannot, no matter what I try, access the web configuration interface. All I eventually get, after accepting the certificate (I've tried both temporarily, and permanently) is a 500 Internal Server Error. Everything was fine under v6.104. Apart from that, the firewall is still working as it should, with the rules I have in place working correctly.
I can access the firewall from the console via the root user, and can browse the logs, examine the config settings, etc. Initially, I thought it was an allowed management IP problem, but checking the /etc/wfe/conf/settings file shows that the allowed management consoles is correct. Amending a setting of 'Any' to the bottom of this list, and a subsequent reset did nothing to change the situation. This was removed, and another reboot performed to return the firewall to it's previous state.
Upon checking the logs in /var/log/, the only thing that seems out of place is in the httpdata log, which states that the fcgi process is finding errors within the /var/wfe/index.fpl file, and is continually restarting. Checking this file gave me no clues, as it appears to be a binary data file, and isn't readable by the more command. Since I was also unsure of the webserver used in displaying the administration web interface, I did not know what to search for in the process list to see if the server was active or not, although I think that it is active, since I get served a certificate immediately on entering the administration address into the web browser. Also, on viewing the certificate, everything seems to be in order, with all the details correctly displayed.
Is there anything I can do to remedy this situation? I'm trying to avoid a rebuild of the server due to the complaints we'd receive for the downtime involved. I'd rather leave that as a last resort when all else fails. I also noticed whilst browsing the forums that there was a new patch out to rememdy the anti-virus situation with the 6.105 release (Which I can't install, as I can't access the web interface), but we're not running any of the AV packages, and I don't think out licence covers use of any of these applications anyway. Searching both the www.astaro.com/kb knowledgebase, and the forums, I couldn't find anyone that had the same sort of problem as I've encountered. If anyone has any suggestions or knowledge of this problem occurring elsewhere, I'd seriously appreciate the help. Thank you.
