Hi,
a costumer of me has a small appliance with ASL6.1xx, which is sufficiant for his ten users for normal use.
He run an engineering buro and very often gets emails with large attachements (drawings) with up to 100MB and more.
His w2k-server runs the tobit-mail-server, which fetches the mails via POP from the ISP. He's got a 6MB ADSL-line, so the size of the mail is not the problem, but the time the mails are scanned by the box.
I'm told, the timeout of the 'tobit' is 5 min and is not changeable. So he often gets his emails blocked, because of the timeout and the only way, to get emails then, is to switch virusscanning off for the mails.
Now he wants a faster cpu. Does anyone have experience, which affordable hardware would do the job?
