Can't get Gigabit NICs running at 1000

We're adding a Intel 4-port PCI-X NIC to our HP DL145, and I haven't been able to get it OR the onboard broadcom 5721 (rev 11) NICs into gigabit mode, according to mii-tool and mii-diag.

I'm using Cat5e cables.

Do I need to force it somehow?

The modules loaded are e1000 and bcm5700.

lspci shows the Intel NICs as 82546EB Gigabit ... (rev 01).

Hmm. it looks like mii-tool is outdated and may not support gigabit nics.

Looks like I need to use ethtool... I'll try that in the morning.

I'm running ASL 6.104, btw.
