Small Drives

Hi Guys,

Is there any way of installing Astaro on drives smaller than 8gig? It's just I'm playing with Astaro on a machine which can use a Compactflash drive & it would be nice to use CF for the install, rather than dig out one of my old hard drives.

    according to hardware requirements you can install the V5
    For versions 5.000 or later:

    CPU: PII > 400MHz
    RAM: 128 MB (256 recommended)
    CDROM: IDE or SCSI (see HCL for supported SCSI controller)
    Harddisk: > 5GB IDE or SCSI (see HCL for supported SCSI controller)
    NIC: at least 2 PCI NICs (see HCL for support chipsets)

    But V6 needs:
    CPU:  Intel Pentium II > 900MHz
    RAM: 256MB (512MB/1GB recommended)
    CDROM: IDE or SCSI (see HCL for supported SCSI controller)
    Harddisk: > 9 GB hard disk drive and above (see HCL for supported SCSI controller)
    NIC: at least 2 PCI NICs (see HCL for support chipsets)

    Can't be true, because our ASG 120 only contains a 600 MHz CPU, running 6.104.

    900 Mhz is recommended!

    alll what you need is this:
        minimum Pentium II or compatible CPU
        256 MB RAM
        8 GB SCSI/IDE HD
        bootable CDROM SCSI/IDE
        3 PCI-NICs (Internet, Local Net, Demilitarized Zone) (for testing, 1 is enough)

    Then it runs, but just slower and not more... you can use a P2 with 333Mhz, no problem, and just 128MB RAM.

    Firewalling and IDS will run. this services are not cpu hungry. the webmin can be a little bit slow, but it runs and when you dont have to do much changes every hour, this hardware is enough...
