All NICs become down more times a day

Hi folks,

i've realized that the internet connection becomes down more times a day. but i have an always on connection were no disconnects should happen.

by pure chance i was logged into webmin  when it came to a disconnect. i quickly switched to Network interfaces and saw that all interfaces where shown as down, instead of only the WAN interface.

so, where to start analizing?

eth0 | Ethernet interface | type=eth

eth1 | 3Com 3C905B Fast Etherlink XL 10/100 | irq=5   type=eth 0x10b7:0x9055

eth1.120 | VLAN 120 on 3Com 3C905B Fast Etherlink XL 10/100
type=vlan

eth1.130 | VLAN 130 on 3Com 3C905B Fast Etherlink XL 10/100
type=vlan

eth1.150 | VLAN 150 on 3Com 3C905B Fast Etherlink XL 10/100
type=vlan

eth2 | D-Link DFE-530TX rev A | irq=10   type=eth | 0x1106:0x3043

where eth0 is my WAN interface
eth2 my configuration interface
and the vlans on eht1 are my networks

ok folks,

first i thought it was the intel interface, because there wasn't an irq and resource address assigned to it. i changend it against a realtek card. irq and resource address was ok. but same disconnects.

to let you know the end of the story - the adsl-modem was the problem. changed it and everything is okej now.

The 3Com 3C905B Ethernet card is a good card, I use it myself, but it is not the best choice for running VLANs on, due to some driver problems. You are likely to get better results with an Intel 100 Pro Ethernet card.
