I've been using Astaro for just over a year and am now on v6.0.2. I recently switched from ADSL to FIOS (Verizon Fiber Internet Service). The FIOS service happens to be dynamic PPPOE while the DSL was just DHCP.
From user experiences on other FIOS related forums, a number of people have issues with regular PPPOE disconnects (and reconnects) - around every four hours if they use any router other than the one provided by Verizon (which is a DLink wired/wireless router with firmware customized for Verizon dynamic PPPOE).
As of now, I don't seem to be having any such issues with using Astaro as my router/firewall (I replaced the Verizon router with my Astaro box as soon as the installer left); however, is there any log that would indicate any such disconnects and reconnects?
The internet access seems to be up and running every time I look, but, I'd like to make sure that Astaro isn't dropping the PPPOE connection every few hours and then reconnecting. What would be the best way to determine this? I've looked through all the logs, but, haven't found any (not even in the PPPOE log) that seems to indicate PPPOE disconnects and connects. Any ideas?
