squid update proxy setup

Hi.  We recently bought about 30 Model 120's.  The update process is slow so we wanted to set up a squid proxy server to cache the updates and speed up the process.  I've set Up2date to 'Use upstream HTTP Proxy' with the appropriate IP and port. The proxy appears to be working; it caches regular web traffic.  It doesn't cache the updates.  Are there any instructions available on setting up the upstream proxy?  Are there some settings in the squid config that I need to watch out for that are different from a standard web caching server?  We're using Squid 2.5 on a linux box.

    It probably has to do with the size of the updates. What's the maximum size objec squid is allowed to cache? Look for the maximum_object_size setting. Set this to at least the size of the largest update (right now 79MB for the largest v6 update), I would use 128MB. The default is something tiny like 8MB.

    Also increase the size of the cache (cache_dir setting) to at least a few GB as well, I would recommend at least 2GB. You can tune that later as you see fit. The default here again is something small like 100MB.
