Failover PPPoE->CableModem

ASL 5.208 with 3 NICs.
3Meg DSL (PPPoE)  & 3Meg Cable Modem (DHCP)

If I set primary internet to DSL and backup to cable modem I get the initial failover switch when DSL goes down and cable modem gets an IP but default gateway fails to set.  CPU seems to go to 100%

If I set primary internet to cable modem and backup to DSL everything switches as expected.

This would be fine except I prefer to use DSL as the primary internet.  This allows me to leverage the cable modem via another router (local ISP allows multiple connections per account).  The DSL also has better upstream performance.

Does this sound like a PPoE specific problem?  Each line works fine on their own but failover only works correctly if the cable modem is primary.

    A little more info after getting the nightly exec report.   The report says that I made 1010 config changes yesterday..  . Not sure what was happening during failover but that many changes in an hour might explain the high CPU usage during the same time.

    I'll try a failover again today with the cable->DSL and see if the apparent config changes are minimal compared to when failover is DSL->cable.

    I'm planning on switching DSL providers and get a static IP but it is still PPPoE so I suspect I'll have the same switchover issues.
