Tried installing on computer with sym53c8xx module based SCSI card. Installation program did not detect the card. Turned out that it was trying to load module named ncr53c8xx which is not found.
I got ASL to install by loading correct module by hand in another console and proceeding installation normally. After installation I chrooted into installed system, did mount -a, edited /etc/sysconfig/kernel to match correct module name, inserted scsi_hostadapter line into /etc/modules.conf and finally ran mkinitrd. After this ASL boots and works just fine.
