Installation on VMware

Hi, I wanna know how can I install Astaro on the VMware, I already have installed astaro, but I cant view the webadmin in my Iexplorer, I have a Semprom 2600+ 512 in ram and 1 ethernet card

    make sure you have VMWare's routing setup right.

    I think you can add a 'bridge' with the route command on the shell.

    i've testet Astaro 6.102 in VMware Workstation 5 and 5.5. this runs...

    question is, that this config will make sense for an productive installation.

    runs fine from 4.x and higher; use two virtual nic, 1 host-only which u can use to access the webifc, the other one i use bridged so that u can connect the asl to the internet if your host can...

    For production, I would definitely run it on a dedicate machine, no virtual machine stuff... it adds one more unknown (as a previous poster pointed out a hole in VMWARE itself exists / existed) variable to implementing this as a security solution.  Considering the rather modest hardware requirements, this shouldn't be too costly... I've deployed quite a few installs to Celeron 1.x GHz, 512MB machines for medium sized networks.

    I've had the same question as well. However, I am having problems connecting to the secure webpage after installation.

    My local net subnet: 172.20.16.0 / 255.128

    Host machine: 172.20.16.100 / 255.128
    ASL (Client) net setup: 172.20.16.102 / 255.128 / Gateway: 172.20.16.1

    After install completes, reboot... login as root (changed pass) logout. Attempt to login to Webadmin, but incorrect password displays (password never given). Attempt to connect to secure http, page times out.


    On top of that the KB is not very helpful. Some pages refer to http://docs.astaro.org/ then refers back to the KB. (example Install-MAN).

    Any help would be appreciated to get this preview copy running on vmware.

    try to leave your physical network alone; do a config with the vm-'host only' adapter on the host and a similar in the vmachine (vmnet1); 'own' subnet (i.e. 192.168.1.0/24) for this virtual network - now the link btw. host and vmachine should work; next step do a nat or bridged vm-nic as the 2nd one for the astaro to connect outside...

    True, but it only affected the VMWare NAT service and there was a simple work around posted along with the notice of the vulnerability (just disable the NAT service).  Also, ESX server was not affected by this.
