Is is possible to run Astaro V6 on a laptop (not in vmware) using 2 PCMCIA nics ?? I read somewhere here that Astaro only supports wireless PCMCIA cards ?!?
I would like to do the same thing but Astaro does not seem to recognise my nic's
The nic's I use are 3COM Model 3CCFE575CT-D cards (hard wired types). They are not listed on the HCL. So it's unclear they are supported or not. However it seems that wlan pcmcia cards are supported so I see no reason why wired types wouldn't be supported.
Is there a way to load a module with the drivers for these networkcards into the kernel? or is there some other workaround available?
Could anyone from astaro comment on this issue if it's impossible to use hard wired pcmcia network cards and what's the reason behind it why they are'nt supported.

Since V6 the ASG cannot be used as an Access Point anymore. So wifi cards are not supported at all since V6. I don't think Astaro will put much effort in supporting PCMCIA on ASG software since no serious sysadmin in the business sector will ever want to use a laptop as firewall hardware. If you want to do something like this at home for fun or whatever reason you'll have to hack it yourself [;)]
