You also might want to try using the 6.100 ISO image instead of the 6.001 ISO. Do you know what type of controller card is in the machine?

I experienced the same problem when installing 6.001.  Although the SCSI controller was listed in the HCL for V6 it wasn't recognised by ASL.  However, it *was* recognised if I tried to install V5.  So it looks like something broke between V5 and V6.  I gave up in the end and used an IDE disk instead.

BTW, it might be coincidence, but I was also using a dual processor PC.

These things won't get fixed if no one tells Astaro about them.

Mine was a Symbios Logic 875XS|D, 2280X

same here... i have a davi control 2976 uw (symbios) the installer does not find any hard disk.

as the v6 came out, i posted this several times.... no response until now... so its better to expect nothing...

let me say so... for some time ago  some of the team looked into this bb. this was a good thing, because it raised the quality of the astaro product.. 

for now ive got the impression that no one cares anymore about this bb or anything else what happens here...

so i dont care anymore about the  product.. thats all.. 
iv feel ass kicked right now... we got a home lic, ok. but paying customers recive help from us here in the bb , they dont get at astrao. so why do we get ignored here ?

hope u get what i mean, i am not a native english speaker / writer...

I got ASL to install by loading correct module by hand in another console and proceeding installation normally. After installation I chrooted into installed system, did mount -a, edited /etc/sysconfig/kernel to match correct module name, inserted scsi_hostadapter line into /etc/modules.conf and finally ran mkinitrd. After this ASL boots and works just fine.

Now that the cause has been identified, pehaps Astaro can fix the problem properly?

Maybe. Try emailing it to them.
